Barbara Herron

Executive Director

Barb Herron brings over three decades of experience in early childhood education, serving children, families, educators, and programs throughout the Cincinnati region. Beginning her career in the classroom and later moving into Head Start leadership roles, Barb has dedicated her work to strengthening early learning environments and supporting the adults who care for young children.

Barb’s work is grounded in a commitment to social and emotional development, equity, and developmentally responsive practice. She supports educators in understanding children’s behavior as communication and in creating inclusive environments that honor each child’s strengths, experiences, and needs. As a coach with the Resilient Children and Families Program, Barb partners with teachers, directors, and families across the tri-state area, offering guidance, reflection, and practical strategies to support children in group care settings.

Since 2021, Barb has served as Executive Director of the Early Learning Center at UC, where she leads with a strong commitment to the center’s mission, high-quality care, and a nurturing, inclusive environment. She remains actively connected to the field as a Consortium for Resilient Children and Families partner and as an adjunct early childhood education instructor at a local community college, supporting the preparation of future educators and helping bridge theory, practice, and the realities of the early childhood profession.

Barb’s approach centers relationships, reflection, and continuous growth, with a focus on building systems and practices that support both children and the educators who serve them.
