Terra Cappel
Toddler Teacher
Terra Cappel is a toddler teacher at Early Learning Campus at UC. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Cincinnati and has been teaching for over 18 years. She has spent 14 of those years as a preschool teacher and 4 years working with toddlers. One of Terra’s passions in the education field is building relationships with the families and children. She likes to incorporate fun books and activities in the classroom to encourage children to explore and engage in play activities. Terra has previously presented at a 4C conference presenting on “Celebrating Language and Literacy”. She also recently presented with Helene Harte “Equity in Early Childhood” to the parents at the center as well as virtually. Terra also presented “Paving The Way For Play.” Terra has become an active early childhood leader among her staff and has made an extra effort to advocate for children and their families. Another one of Terra’s passions is music and movement. She feels that listening to the lyrics and hearing repetition encourages children to repeat language and move their bodies. Terra’s enthusiasm for early education goes beyond the classroom. She is an advocate for arranging outside resources for families, she leads a team for the Autism Speaks walk every year and she attends many conferences for continued education and is a member of NAEYC.
Terra often can be found spending time with her two pups as well as her nieces and nephew. Terra enjoys doing puzzles, playing cards, and hiking. Terra finds the relationships with the families and children to be the most rewarding.
